What makes Winter purslane special
Winter purslane is particularly cold-tolerant and can germinate and grow at low temperatures. This makes it an ideal choice for home gardeners who want to harvest fresh greens even in winter. Moreover, it is an old, non-hybrid variety, so it can be saved and re-sown from its own seeds.
Ideal for...
Home gardeners who value seasonal self-sufficiency and do not want to miss fresh leafy greens during the cold months. Winter purslane is perfect for growing in garden beds, raised beds, or pots on the balcony.
How to use Winter purslane
Sow the seeds directly outdoors or in pots with loose soil. Press lightly and cover thinly with soil. Keep the seedbed evenly moist. Germination occurs at temperatures between 5 and 15 °C. Young leaves can be harvested after a few weeks. Cut the leaves about 2–3 cm above the ground – the plant will regrow.
