The Hoya Light Pollution Cut Filter Starscape is a special lens filter that filters out unwanted light components from sodium vapor and mercury vapor lamps. This allows contrast-rich images of the night sky even in urban areas.
Effective suppression of artificial light for natural sky colors
77 mm filter thread – compatible with common wide-angle and telephoto lenses
Multi-coated optics reduce reflections and ghosting
Robust aluminum frame for durable outdoor use
What sets the Hoya Starscape apart
Unlike simple UV filters, the Starscape specifically blocks the troublesome wavelengths of light pollution while letting the rest of the spectrum pass through largely unaltered. Astronomy photographers get more detailed images without subsequent color correction.
Ideal for...
Astrophotographers working in bright environments, as well as amateur astronomers aiming for clear shots of the Milky Way, star fields, or planets. Also suitable for nighttime landscapes to keep the sky looking natural.
How to use the Hoya filter
Simply screw the filter onto the lens thread (77 mm) and mount the camera on a stable tripod. Use an exposure time of several seconds to minutes – the filter works passively without power. Remove the filter after shooting and store it in the supplied case.
Hoya is a Japanese manufacturer of optical filters, known for high-quality coatings and precision glass grinding. The Starscape filter is specifically designed for astrophotography.
