BSA threading (BSC) enables easy installation and a secure fit in the frame
Robust construction for long-lasting performance under intensive use
Low weight of only 134 g reduces the bike's overall weight
The BB-MT501 belongs to Shimano's proven mid-range and combines longevity with an attractive price-performance ratio. The Box construction ensures optimal sealing against dirt and moisture, increasing the bearing's lifespan. Thanks to the adjustable bearing preload, the bottom bracket can be precisely matched to the crankset.
Ideal for...
This bottom bracket is especially suitable for mountain bikes, trekking bikes, and city bikes with BSA shells. It is also a reliable choice for mid-power e-bikes, provided the frame offers the standard shell. DIY enthusiasts and ambitious recreational cyclists benefit from the straightforward installation and smooth running.
How to install the Shimano bottom bracket
Installation is done using a BSA bottom bracket tool and a torque wrench. Clean the threads in the frame thoroughly and apply some grease. Screw the bearing cups in from each side – the right cup has a left-hand thread. Tighten the cups to the specified torque (approx. 35–50 Nm). Then insert the crankset and adjust the bearing preload.
