MikroTik R11e-LR8 – LoRaWAN Module for IoT Applications
The MikroTik R11e-LR8 is a compact LoRaWAN module in Mini-PCI-Express format. It enables the integration of LoRaWAN radio technology into compatible MikroTik devices, especially MikroTik routers.
The 863–870 MHz frequency band covers European LoRaWAN frequencies and enables reliable data transmission over kilometers – ideal for IoT sensor networks.
Mini-PCI-Express interface makes retrofitting in existing MikroTik routers easy, without additional enclosure or external power supply.
LoRaWAN compatibility allows direct connection of an external antenna and the use of public or private LoRaWAN networks.
Low weight of only 11 g simplifies installation and increases flexibility for mobile or space-saving setups.
What sets the R11e-LR8 apart
Unlike many LoRaWAN gateways, MikroTik uses a plug-in card that disappears directly into the router. This creates a compact, integrated IoT gateway without a separate housing. The 24-month manufacturer warranty ensures long-term investment security.
Ideal for...
Tech-savvy system integrators, smart city applications, and operators of IoT sensor networks who want to extend their existing MikroTik infrastructure with LoRaWAN. Also suitable for research and education in radio technology.
How to use the MikroTik R11e-LR8
Power off the router, insert the module into a free Mini-PCI-Express slot, and screw it in. Connect an external LoRaWAN antenna (not included) to the antenna connector. Restart the router and configure the module via the RouterOS menu under “Wireless” → “LoRa”.
MikroTik is a Latvian manufacturer of networking hardware, known for the RouterOS operating system. The company produces routers, switches, access points, and radio modules. With the R11e series, it offers expansion modules for various radio standards (LoRaWAN, LTE, WiFi) for installation in its own devices.
The R11e-LR8 is a LoRaWAN radio module in Mini-PCI-Express format for compatible MikroTik routers. It enables communication with LoRaWAN sensors and actuators.
It fits any MikroTik router with a free Mini-PCI-Express slot (e.g., RB4011, CCR1009, RB3011 – check the compatibility list at mikrotik.com).
The module operates in the 863–870 MHz band, used for LoRaWAN in Europe (EU868).
The module itself and a mounting screw. An external antenna (RP-SMA) must be purchased separately.
MikroTik offers a 24-month manufacturer warranty on the module.
