M5Stack Hall Effect Unit – Hall Sensor A3144E for Makers and IoT
The M5Stack Hall Effect Unit is a compact sensor module for detecting magnetic fields. It is based on the widely used A3144E Hall sensor and integrates into M5Stack projects without soldering thanks to the Grove interface.
Precise magnetic field detection for proximity and position sensors
Compatible with M5Stack controllers via standardized Grove connector
Digital output signal for easy processing by microcontrollers
Unlike simple magnetic contacts, the A3144E provides a clean digital signal that can be read directly by digital inputs. The unit is fully integrated into the M5Stack ecosystem and supported by the UIFlow and Arduino IDEs. It is suitable for both rapid prototypes and long-lasting installations.
Ideal for...
Makers, IoT developers, and electronics hobbyists who need reliable magnetic field detection – for door/window sensors, tachometers, contactless switches, or end stops in robotics projects.
How to use the Hall Effect Unit
Connect the module via the included Grove cable to an M5Stack controller (e.g., Core2, Atom Lite).
Initialize the sensor in your development environment – examples can be found in the M5Stack documentation.
Place a magnet near the sensor to change the digital output signal – with sufficient field strength, the output switches to LOW.
Process the signal in your program, e.g., to increment a counter or trigger an action.
M5Stack, headquartered in Shenzhen, is a leading provider of modular IoT development kits for makers, developers, and educational institutions. The ecosystem includes controllers, sensors, actuators, and displays, all combinable via the unified Grove interface and UIFlow software.
It is a modular sensor board with the A3144E digital Hall sensor, which connects via a Grove port to M5Stack controllers and detects magnetic fields.
It works with all M5Stack controllers that have a Grove port, such as Core2, CoreS3, Atom Lite, Atom Matrix, and StickC.
The A3144E is a unipolar digital Hall switch with open-drain output. The module's operating voltage is 5 V (via Grove), and the output goes LOW when a south pole approaches.
The module is delivered as a single sensor board – without Grove cable and without M5Stack controller. The cable must be ordered separately.
Yes, M5Stack provides a 24-month warranty on the Hall Effect Unit.
