The MQ-2 sensing element detects flammable gases including hydrogen, methane, propane, butane, alcohol vapours, and smoke. The analog output allows the user to interpret concentration levels for any of these gases.
The sensor is specified for 100 to 1,000 ppm. Below 100 ppm the signal may be too weak for reliable readings; above 1,000 ppm the sensor may saturate and require dilution or a different sensor type.
Connect the analog output pin to an ADC-capable input on your microcontroller. Power the module with 5 V DC and read the voltage output, which rises proportionally with gas concentration.
The delivery includes one jOY-iT SEN-MQ8-V2 sensor board. No additional cables, connectors, or calibration gas are included — these must be sourced separately for full integration.
jOY-iT provides 24 months of manufacturer warranty on the SEN-MQ8-V2 sensor board, covering manufacturing defects under normal operating conditions.
