Exsys EX-6111-2POE – PoE Device Server for Industrial RS232 Applications
The Exsys EX-6111-2POE is a compact serial device server that enables connecting an RS232 device over an Ethernet network. Thanks to Power over Ethernet (PoE), no separate power supply is required; a power adapter is nevertheless included.
A single RS232 port allows integrating legacy devices into modern networks – ideal for industrial controllers, POS systems, or laboratory equipment.
PoE support reduces cabling: data and power over a single cable – especially useful in hard-to-reach locations.
Robust external enclosure for flexible use in offices, workshops, or server rooms.
Easy configuration via web browser or serial console – no driver installation required.
Unlike internal interface cards, the EX-6111-2POE can be installed anywhere on the network without opening the PC. The PoE capability saves additional power outlets and makes the device especially flexible in environments with limited power connections. The compact design and included power supply (5V/4A) also allow operation without a PoE switch.
Ideal for...
This device server targets IT administrators, system integrators, and technical planners who need to integrate serial RS232 devices such as scales, barcode scanners, medical equipment, or CNC machines into an IP-based network. It is also the first choice for retrofit projects in industrial automation.
How to use the device server
Connect the RS232 port to your serial device (e.g., via a null modem cable). Plug the EX-6111-2POE into a PoE-enabled switch using the RJ45 port, or into a power outlet using the included adapter. Access the device's IP address in a web browser and configure the port settings (baud rate, data bits, stop bits, etc.) according to your device's specifications. The device is now available on the network as a virtual COM port.

Exsys products are known for their reliability and easy integration into existing networks.
The Exsys EX-6111-2POE is an external serial device server that makes an RS232 port available over Ethernet (IP). It enables connecting serial devices to a TCP/IP network without the host computer needing a serial port.
Any device with an RS232 interface, such as scales, barcode scanners, medical equipment, CNC machines, laboratory instruments, or POS systems.
No. The EX-6111-2POE can be powered either via Power over Ethernet (PoE) compliant with IEEE 802.3af or via the included 5V/4A power adapter.
The device server appears on the network as a virtual COM port and is supported by Windows, Linux, and macOS. No special driver installation is required – configuration is done via a web browser.
The package includes the EX-6111-2POE device server, a 5V/4A power adapter, and a printed quick start guide.
