How to use the Bokashi Essential 1.1
Place kitchen waste into the composter, add a layer of Bokashi soil, and close the lid tightly. After each fill, open the tap to collect the liquid fertilizer, which can be used as a natural plant feed. Once full, let the composter rest for 2–4 weeks, then mix the fermented fertilizer into garden soil.
Bokashi is a brand specializing in fermentation composting. The method originates from Japan and enables odorless recycling of kitchen waste. Bokashi products are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
A Bokashi composter is a container for the anaerobic fermentation of organic kitchen waste. Unlike traditional composting, it produces no odors and does not attract flies.
Waste is layered in the composter and sprinkled with Bokashi soil (EM microorganisms). The airtight seal starts fermentation, which after 2–4 weeks produces nutrient-rich fertilizer and liquid fertilizer.
All organic kitchen waste such as fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags, eggshells, bread crusts, and even meat and fish scraps are suitable. Large bones, overly fatty foods, or chemicals are not suitable.
The two-bin set includes two Bokashi Essential 1.1 composters each with a tap and one bag of Bokashi soil activator. The exact amount of activator varies – please refer to the package insert.
Clean the tap after each use and rinse the composter with water if needed. Do not use harsh cleaning agents. The composter is made of durable plastic and with proper care is long-lasting.
