The sensor detects water leaks through two contact probes on its underside and additionally measures the ambient temperature. When water touches the probes, it sends a signal to the connected hub.
The sensor is designed for use with the Samsung SmartThings system. It communicates via Zigbee 3.0 and can also be paired with other hubs that support Zigbee 3.0, although full functionality is provided within the SmartThings ecosystem.
The sensor is battery-powered and operates wirelessly. No cabling is required for installation.
